Welcome to Dr. Bee’s Nest! Before you dive into the hive, here’s the buzz on how to craft and submit your piece:
Submission Guidelines for Contributors
1. Keep It Sweet and Sharp
- Aim for essays between 750-1500 words. Longer articles may be considered based on space and substance.
- Be clear and concise—leave academic jargon at the door.
2. Fresh Pollen Only
- Submissions must be original and unpublished elsewhere, online or in print.
- We love first-hand narratives that explore higher ed issues through personal experience or perspective.
3. We’re an Equal-Opportunity Hive
- We welcome contributions from all perspectives—no party line here.
- Pieces may be published anonymously if necessary to protect your career or safety, but we prefer authors to sign their work with their name and organization.
4. No Footnotes, Please
- Hyperlinks are your friend. Use them to cite sources or direct readers to additional information. Let’s keep the hive buzzing with accessible and checkable facts.
5. Expect a Few Stings
- All articles are subject to editing for clarity, tone, and space constraints.
- Keep It Respectful: A good swarm thrives on diverse voices, so let’s foster a space where ideas are challenged, not people.
- Zero Tolerance for Discrimination: Derogatory, discriminatory, or hateful language related to race, gender, sex, sexual orientation, religion, or any other identity is strictly prohibited and will result in removal from the hive.
6. Sweet, Not Sticky
- Dr. Bee’s Nest is a labor of love, not profit. Guest submissions are not paid, but you’ll gain the satisfaction of contributing to the swarm of ideas shaping higher ed.
- Stay on Topic: Focus on the essay or issue at hand—though a bit of wandering off is okay, as long as it’s insightful or hilarious.
- Bring the Buzz: Wit, humor, and thought-provoking comments are always welcome!
The hive thrives when everyone contributes. So go ahead—share your voice and make the swarm sing!
If this all sounds like your cup of honey, send us your piece! Let’s keep the hive buzzing with irony, insight, and just the right amount of sting.
