Dr. Birce Tanriguden has spent nearly two decades buzzing around the world of music education, starting her career in 2007. Throughout her journey, she’s had the opportunity to share thoughts on diversity and inclusion in music education at conferences across the United States. Her focus has always been on finding ways to make music education more welcoming and inclusive for everyone in the hive.
Her scholarly work is all about improving the way we teach and learn music. Dr. Tanriguden is the creator of The Musical Mosaic Method (M.M.M.), a research-based approach to notational literacy that aims to make music education more accessible and meaningful for students.
With a background in music theory, composition, and pedagogy and certification as an academic consultant, Dr. Tanriguden currently teaches at the Hartt School. There, she works to guide the next generation of music educators while keeping a close eye on the ever-evolving landscape of higher education.
Why Dr. Tanriguden Founded Dr. Bees' Nest
Dr. Tanriguden founded Dr. Bee’s Nest to create a space where the voices of all those navigating higher education could be heard—whether they’re sharing a laugh, venting frustration, or offering insightful critiques. This platform serves as a hive for intellectual commentary, where academia’s quirks, challenges, and absurdities are explored through wit, irony, and satire. It’s her way of encouraging honest, thoughtful discussions on the issues that matter most, all while maintaining a lighthearted buzz.
